AsusTek Eee Pad EP101 and EP121 PC Tablet Review

Here comes a new iPad competitor which is created by Taiwan’s AsusTek Computer Inc. It is a touchscreen tablet, named as Eee Pad and now is trying to tap demand for the sleek devices following the launching of iPad.

New AsusTek Eee Pad

Eee Pad runs on Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. It comes in 10inch and 12inch sizes. This product is set to be on sale in the first quarter of 2011. The price for 10inch model is expected to be US$399 to US$499. The price for 12inch model was not announced yet.

EP101 runs Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating system. Besides thickness of 12.2mm and weight of 675grams, it is powered by Nvidia Tegra (quality video capabilities). It also comes with SIM card slot, USB ports and HDMI out.

While for EP121, this model runs Windows 7 Premium operating system. Same thickness like EP101, it weighs 1.48lbs. It is powered by Core 2 Duo CULV processor. It has SIM card slot, USB ports and HDMI out like EP101. Its battery long life is 10 hours.

This new tablet is equipped with a webcam and supports Flash by Adobe System which allows users to play YouTube and other videos online. This is one of the advantages compared to iPad. As we all know, iPad lacks of Flash support and it has alienated some of its users.

One more product unveiled by AsusTek is an e-notepad. It functions as an electronic-reader and a note-taking device. It has a built-in camera so you can easily take screenshots of lecture slides. You don’t have to worry if you don’t understand something, just refer back to the slides. The e-notepad can turn pages at a faster speed and it also does not cause much eye-fatigue during lengthy reading compared to other e-readers. The price tag is US$199 to US$299.

So, now many companies are competing to produce the best tablet computer for the users. They try to provide many benefits to the users by creating new features for the product. Now, the competition is getting tougher and only you can decide which is the best.
